Influenza
Influenza is a serious respiratory illness that returns to Nebraska each winter and can impact children and adults alike. It’s not the same as a common cold or the “stomach flu”—influenza can cause high fevers, cough, sore throat, muscle aches, headaches, and fatigue that may last for a week or more. In some cases, it can lead to more severe complications like pneumonia—and in rare cases, even death. On average, about 36,000 people die from influenza each year in the U.S.
That’s why getting vaccinated is so important.
The flu vaccine is recommended for nearly everyone over 6 months of age. At Village Pointe and Dundee Pediatrics, we offer flu shots for all patients 6 months and older. Our nurses provide quick and convenient appointments each day to help keep your family protected throughout flu season.
Call us to schedule your child’s flu shot or ask your doctor if you have questions about if the vaccine is right for your child.
